Yesterday we were walking through Centennial Park when we saw tons of people looking up at the trees. Some people had really big cameras so we decided to check it out…
We looked into one tree and I saw two white fluffy baby owls while my mum saw one adult that was brown and gold looking.
We asked one of the photographers with the big camera what they were and they replied “powerful owls”. We did some research to learn more about the Powerful Owl.
Did you know…
Powerful Owls are native to Eastern Australia.
The baby owls are call owlettes and the collective noun for a group of owls is called a Parliament.
Powerful owls are carnivores, eating mainly medium to large tree-dwelling mammals including possums and flying foxes.
Eating animals that size means they are pretty big themselves. The Powerful Owl grows up to 65cm!
They were named Powerful Owls for their incredible strength.

Hi Oscar
When we first bought our house in W’craft there were two owls in the tree outside which is why we still call our home Owl House.
